Job Description
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) delivers safe and compassionate care as a vital member of the healthcare team, providing patient-centered care and ensuring patient safety. This role serves patients seeking services from the TB Elimination Program, working with the clinical team to create and maintain efficient, patient-centered daily clinic and case management operations while providing comprehensive care to all Harris County Public Health patients.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Oversee a caseload of tuberculosis clients, monitoring their medical history, symptoms, and medication adherence, while documenting any side effects. Coordinate all aspects of the TB care plan, ensuring timely and accurate implementation, with prompt and precise entry into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Measuring and documenting vital signs, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, and conducting basic patient assessments. 
  • Assist in performing physical exams and medical procedures, administering and dispensing prescribed medication 
  • Receive, review, and prioritize all laboratory results. Ensure that all abnormal laboratory values are documented in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Discharging patients from the clinic following the medical provider's care plan and providing appropriate patient education.
  • Manage medical inventory, including vaccines and oral medications, by ordering and ensuring the clinic is properly stocked.
  • Participate in performing quality assurance checks on lab specimens and prepare specimens for transport.
  • Administer age-appropriate immunizations and stay updated with all CDC vaccine schedule changes; assist the nursing team in providing CDC-recommended vaccinations.
 
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Associate degree or diploma in Nursing
  • Current licensure as an LVN in the State of Texas by the Texas Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified
  • One (1) year of experience as an LVN in an outpatient clinic setting
  • Valid TX Driver's License
  • Preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish/Arabic/Vietnamese or other language)
  • Preferred Experience working in refugee and/or global health

If you are hired, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition, we also believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth
