Client Company: Harris County’s Public Health Department
 
Team1Medical is working with Harris County Public Health to fill their current opening for a Licensed Vocational Nurse for the Refugee Health Screening clinic. They are looking for a Licensed Vocational Nurse to join their team immediately to assist with health assessments and impact the community. Examine patients of all ages to evaluate their medical condition and offer potential treatments or resources to lead toward improvement.
 
Licensed Vocational Nurse’s Responsibilities
  • Perform interviews with clients and records their medical/psychosocial information in the EMR system
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on lab specimens and prepare specimens for transport
  • Administer/read tuberculosis skin tests 
  • Draw blood samples, perform vision/hearing screening, weights/heights, and takes vital signs
  • Track and monitor abnormal lab results and reschedules lapsed appointments
  • Dispense prescribed medication according to Pharmacy D regulations and HCPH procedures and protocols
  • Maintain knowledge of CDC-recommended vaccines and administer age-appropriate immunizations as required
  • Provide information to the community on the resettlement of refugees when requested
 
Licensed Vocational Nurse’s Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse working in a clinic or physician's office
  • Prefers Bilingual in one of the following languages Spanish, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, and Swahili
  • The work schedule is Mondays through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm 
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check
