Salary Rate: $18.50
Location: Humble, TX
Shift: Monday – Thursday 8:00am - 5:30pm., Friday 8:00am-12:00pm, Select Saturdays 8:00am-12:00pm
Employment Type: Temporary
The Medical Assistant supports patient care services provided by the Women Infants & Children (WIC) clinics. The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing clinical tasks in accordance with WIC Program protocols. This position will work with the clinic team to create and maintain efficient, patient-centered daily clinic operations while providing comprehensive public health services to all WIC Clinic patients seeking services.
What you will be doing:
- Perform iron and lead screening on adults and children following HCPH and WIC protocol and document all information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Provide in-room support for all clinic staff during the clinic visits as needed.
- Maintains laboratory and exam rooms in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
- Inventories supplies and forms; submits items for ordering (via designated software and contract laboratory) as needed.
- Perform data entry and electronic data processing by using the program EMR, Microsoft Excel, and any other related software.
- Stock the clinic with all the equipment necessary for client screening services. Assist with rotating dated stock to prevent loss.
- Perform medical equipment quality assurance.
- Other duties as assigned.
What is Required:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a community college or business/technical school Medical Assistant program
- Certified by the American Association of Medical Assistant
- Six (6) months as a Medical Assistant with experience in a medical office, WIC Clinic, hospital, or laboratory is required
- Valid TX Driver's License
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
