Job Description
 
The RN Patient Navigator serves as a trusted guide and advocates for patients and families navigating complex cancer care. This nurse combines clinical expertise with compassion to help patients understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and next steps. The navigator works closely with referring physicians, specialists, and the care team to ensure timely communication, clear expectations, and a positive patient experience.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients during their diagnostic evaluation and treatment process.
  • Educate and empower patients and caregivers to make informed healthcare decisions.
  • Provide pre- and post-procedure guidance, including preparation instructions, recovery expectations, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain consistent communication with patients to address questions, provide reassurance, and reduce anxiety surrounding procedures or treatments.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care and ensure timely scheduling and follow-up.
  • Build relationships with clinical departments to facilitate effective communication and continuity of care.
  • Use clinical judgment to identify barriers, provide resources, and support patients’ holistic needs throughout their journey.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • At least three (3) years of clinical RN experience or prior experience as an RN patient navigator
  • Current Texas RN license (or valid temporary permit)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience in oncology or a complex specialty care setting is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Epic or other EMR systems
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

The base pay range for this position is $140,000-$164,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future  growth.
